Georgia Kotretsos is a visual artist/writer based in Athens, Greece.

She has attained an MFA Degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a Full Merit Scholarship, (2004) in the United States and a BFA Degree from The Durban Institute of Technology, in KwaZulu Natal, (2000) in South Africa.
Kotretsos was a founding agent of the Boots Contemporary Art Space, St. Louis MO, USA (2006-10) and the founder and editor-inchief of Boot Print, a publication dedicated to contemporary art, which was published by Boots. Kotretsos also writes for the Art in the Twenty-First Century blog in New York where she has a monthly column entitled Inside the Artistʼs Studio (http://blog.art21.org/author/georgia-kotretsos/). She regularly contributes to Highlights and Asante magazine in Athens, Greece.
Parallel to her writing, she also has an active and healthy studio practice, which is heavily
audience oriented. Kotretsos is taking into consideration the viewer, while conceptualizing on a work and has been exploring the inter-dependence and inter-relation of the artwork/viewer, by attempting to bind the two entities into the actual artwork for over a decade now. By challenging conceptual boundaries, authorship and authority, she has created a body of work that is characterized by its conceptual consistency. Kotretsos has exhibited her work in South Africa, the United States, and Europe.
